<span style="color: #222222;">All the major reservoirs that cater to the water needs of Chennai are filling up fast due to good rain in the catchment areas.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In addition, the new reservoir dedicated by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Thervoy Kandigai village in neighbouring Tiruvallur district yesterday is set to augment the availability of water for the city.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports, Chennai had four major reservoirs till on Saturday, at Chembarambakkam, Poondi, Sholavaram and Redhills.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Last year by this time, all the four together had 3193 million cubic feet of water.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">But thanks to the good rainfall during the recently concluded South West Monsoon and the prevailing North East Monsoon, the inflow has been copious leading to the levels fast rising up.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Currently they have a total of 7176 million cubic feet of water, which is more than twice the level during the same period last year.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In addition, the new waterbody dedicated by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday at Thervoy Kandigai village has the capacity to store about one thousand million cubic feet of water.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">It augments the total capacity for the city so that the water requirements of the metropolis during normal monsoon seasons could be easily managed by the city water managers.</span>
