The Planning commission has said it will have major focus on water management during 12th Five Year Plan.

Addressing a meeting with Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot in New Delhi, Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia said the country needs focussed approach to manage efficient use of available water.

He said a meeting of Chief Ministers is being called soon to bring a national focus on the issue.

Mr. Ahluwalia said the state governments have been advised to take necessary policy initiatives for further strengthening industry sector and to make full use of science and technology in improving pace of development .
