In Assam, an earthquake of moderate intensity rocked Guwahati and its surrounding areas at 14.23 hours on Monday. According to Central Seismological Observatory at Shillong, the intensity of the quake which lasted for around 45 seconds has been recorded at 6.2 in the Richter scale. The epicentre of the tremor is stated to be in the interior areas of neighbouring Bhutan region.<br/>AIR Guwahati correspondent reports that most of the people came out of their houses scared of the jolt. There was, however, no immediate report of any damage from anywhere in the State. It may be recalled that this was the fifth earthquake with moderate intensity experienced in the region within one month’s time. Reports say, tremors were also felt in parts of Kolkotta, north Bengal and Dehradun.<br/>
