The man accused of shooting dead 13 people at Fort Hood army base in Texas, U.S, has been charged with 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder. Maj Nidal Hasan, a psychiatrist at the base, already faced 13 counts of murder over the 5 November shootings. The U.S Army said the latest charges relate to 30 soldiers and two civilian police officers who were injured. Maj Hasan is currently in a military hospital in San Antonio after being shot during the attack. His lawyer John Galligan said the additional charges may have no bearing on his client's punishment if he is convicted. This is because the new charges carry a punishment of death.The 39-year-old American-born Muslim will be tried in a military court but it has not yet been confirmed whether military authorities are seeking the death penalty in this case.
