Shanbhag, Officiating General Officer Commanding, 101 Area led the 'Army Day' commemoration today by laying a wreath at the Rhino Prerna Sthal (New War Memorial) at Shillong.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A press communiqué issued by the Public Relations Officer(Defence) informed that the GOC also reiterated to dedicate ourselves in the service of the nation and pledge to discharge our responsibilities in the best traditions of our Army. Veteran representatives also participated in the Army Day celebrations.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Army Day is celebrated every year in recognition of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on 15th January 1949.
