The Bombay High Court has directed the BCCI to maintain status quo regarding the termination of the IPL franchise Deccan Chargers, owned by Deccan Chronicles Holdings Ltd. Deccan Chronicle had approached the High Court on last Saturday challenging the decision taken by BCCI to terminate the contract of the Deccan Chargers. At its emergency IPL Governing Council meeting in Chennai on Friday, BCCI had taken the decision to terminate the contract as the cash strapped Deccan Chargers was unable to effectively run the team. Earlier the franchise had also rejected the sole bid that was received at the auction held in Chennai on September 13.In its petition, Deccan Chronicle said that the decision of BCCI was illegal and bad in law.Justice S J Kathawalla yesterday posted the matter for further hearing on September 24 and directed for status quo to be maintained and no further action to be initiated against Deccan Chargers team.
