Main political parties in Nepal fail to resolve differences on constitution drafting

In Nepal, the main political parties, the UCPN (maoist) , Nepali Congress , CPN_UML and the alliance of the Samyukta Loktantrik madhesi Morcha have failed to resolve the differences in the constitution drafting specially on state restructuring. The crucial meeting of the parties which was held in Prime Minister residence in Kathmandu this afternoon for a couple of hours .

UCPN (Maoist ) leader, Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the situation is crucial as the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have stuck to their stand and they could not come into any consensus . He said that they proposed that they should go for fourteen states based on ethnicity , if not voting should be held in the Assembly.

The meeting of the Constituent Assembly and the Parliament – legislature has been postponed till tomorrow. The political parties have only a day left to draft the constitution by settling all the disputed issues. The Constituent Assembly deadline expires tomorrow.
Meanwhile the government has tightened security across the capital especially around the Constituent Assembly. According to the Home Ministry ,about with ten thousand security personnel have been deployed in Kathmandu. Security has also been tightened in the main towns.
