Mahmoud Abbas rejects Palestinian state within temporary borders

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has rejected the idea of establishment of a Palestinian state within temporary borders, which was recently proposed for restarting peace talks. <br/> <br/>In a speech before the Revolutionary Council of Fatah in Ramallah on Saturday, he urged the Obama administration to impose a solution to the West Asia conflict that will give his people an independent state. <br/> <br/>Abbas' appeal to Obama came amid widespread media reports that the U.S. president is considering floating a proposal that would set the contours of a final peace deal. <br/> <br/>Meanwhile, according to a report of news agency Al-Hayat, during his meeting with US Special Envoy for West Asia, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to release more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, remove several roadblocks in the West Bank, and to ease the blockade on the Gaza Strip. <br/> <br/>However, Netanyahu refused the US demand to freeze construction in East Jerusalem as well as the request to return all territories classified as Area C in the West Bank to Palestinian Authority. <br/>
