Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concluded their talks at Egyptian red sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh today. US West Asia envoy Gerrge Mitchell described the talks as 'serious discussions'. Talking to reporters after talks, George Mitchell said the sides 'negotiated in good faith' and confirmed their vision of the end goal of 'two states for two people.' He added that both sides have responsibility to help peace talks continue in a productive manner and added that talks would continue the next day in Jerusalem. Giving Washington's stance on the settlement issue, Mitchell said, it makes sense to extend the moratorium' on new Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank. The meeting was mediated by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Washington's Middle East envoy, George Mitchell.
