Four-year-old Mahi, who had been trapped in a 70-feet-deep bore-well for more than 86 hours, was declared dead today by ESI hospital authorities.

Mahi was rushed to the Hospital Manesar, after taken out from the open bore-well by a team of Army personnel at around 1335 hrs. District Magistrate P C Meena announced that the doctors in the hospital confirmed her death due to brutal injuries.

Her father Neeraj had said she was celebrating her fourth birthday and playing with children outside her home near the bore-well when she suddenly fell into it on Wednesday.

More than 100 officials from the Army, fire and police departments and locals were involved in drilling a pit parallel to the bore-well.

Meanwhile, Gurgaon's District Magistrate PC Meena has ordered a judicial enquiry to be carried out by Additional Deputy Commissioner to probe into the digging of an illegal bore-well. An FIR under various Sections of the IPC has been registered against local resident Rotash Tayal, who illegally dug the bore-well.
