Captain of the Indian Cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni and ace shooter Abhinav Bindra were today granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army.

An official release said, President Mrs Pratibha Devi Singh Patil granted the honour to the two sportspersons for their outstanding contribution in the field of Cricket and Shooting respectively, and their commitment to the Army on various occasions.
