Mahashivratri being celebrated with religious fervour today

The festival of Mahashivratri is being celebrated throughout the country today with religious ferver.

In Madhya Pradesh, the religious processions are being taken out across the state on this occasion.

In Uttar Pradesh, People in large numbers are reaching Shiva temples in different parts of the state since morning.

In Ayodhya, huge rush of devotees assembled at Nageshwarnath temple to offer their prayers after taking holy dip in Saryu river.

At Sangam in Allahabad, thousands of people took holy dip at the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna and offered holy waters at various Shiva temples.

In Assam, thousands of devotees are thronging the historic Shiv Doul temple at Sibsagar in upper Assam. Lots of devotees are also making bee-lines at Umananda temple located in the midst of the river Brahmaputra, Sukleswar Ghat and Lankeswar Temple at Guwahati apart from Maha Bhairab Mandir at Tezpur, Kedarnath temple at Hajo and Burhi Gosani temple at Jorhat.

In Sikkim, thousands of devotees are thronging the famous Siddheshwar Dham Shiva temple complex at Solophok near South district headquarters, Namchi.

In Nepal, thousand of devotees are worshipping at the world famous Pashupatinath temple located at the banks of the Bagmati river in Kathmandu.
