Mahasaptami being observed in West Bengal

In West Bengal, Mahasaptami is being observed in the State on Saturday during the ongoing festival of Navratri. The entire West Bengal is in festive mood. The day has begun with banana plantains – Nabapatrika snan (symbolising Lord Ganesha's wife) – were taken for a ritual dip to water bodies, with most preferring the river Ganga. Other rituals of worshipping the goddess Durga are also being performed in the pandals and in a good number of households. The colours and light arrangements at the pandals are attracting a huge number of devotees. The devotees have already started pandal-hopping from Tritiya night or even before. Celebrated for 10 days, Durga Puja is the biggest festival of Bengal. The grandeur of the pandals and the idols attract people all over the world.<br />
