Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti  is being celebrated today. It is observed as the birth anniversary of sage poet Maharishi Valmiki. He is credited with writing the Ramayana. Several functions are being organised across the country to mark the day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti.
