<span style="color: #222222;">Maharashtra's Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil introduced the Maharashtra Cow Service Commission Bill in the state assembly on Thursday. As announced by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the state budget, the commission will be a 25 member body. Besides members from the Animal Husbandry and a few other governmental departments, it will have members from various universities and NGOs.<br />''<br />''The commission will be responsible for the protection of indigenous cows, bulls, bullocks and calves. While promoting rearing and breeding of indigenous cows, the commission will also be handling the registrations and overall supervision of cow shelters. It will also suggest measures to strengthen financial institutions working in this sector and undertake development of pastures and good quality fodder for livestock.<br />''<br />''According to the proposed bill, anyone found violating the norms set by the commission will be liable for a penalty of ten thousand rupees.</span><br />
