Requesting an increase in the allocation of fertilizers from the Centre, Maharashtra's Agriculture Minister Dadaji Bhuse has said that the state's rabi cultivation area is expected to rise from 52 lakh hectares to 60 lakh hectares. Participating in a virtual interaction with Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizer Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Mr Bhuse suggested that the Centre come up with some awareness campaigns to encourage farmers to use organic fertilisers. <br />''<br />''Stating that Maharashtra had maintained a buffer stock of one lakh tonnes of urea to ensure there is no shortage and black marketing of fertilizers, he said the state is making an effort to decrease the use of chemical fertilizers by at least ten percent in the near future. Later in the day, Mr Bhuse held a review meeting for setting up seed processing and storage centres under the Centre's Sub-Mission for Seed and Planting Material project.
