<span style="color: #222222;">In Maharashtra, a Women's Self Help Group at Satarda Bhongalwadi in Sindhudurga district has taken an innovative step recognizing the fact that processed cashew nuts can yield higher income. It has started cashew nut processing unit and the women involved in the business are getting impressive earnings. These women purchase cashew nut seeds and according to its grade, sell in the market in attractive packages earning higher income.<br />''<br />''Women Self Help Groups are commonly involved in making papad, pickles, spices and try to earn some money. However,  a Women's Self Help Group at Satarda Bhongalwadi in Sindhudurga district has chosen a different path by starting cashew nut processing industry. The group established in 2007 is under the management of Women Economic Corporation and Maher Sadhan Kendra, Sawantwadi. These women have started to get good returns by selling purchased cashew nut in decent packing. The remaining cashew nut pieces are used for making sweets which is attracting good returns. The group purchases cashew nut from women farmers by giving more rate than market price. The women working in processing industry are being paid good wages also. The Sindhudurg SHG is an important step towards women empowerment.</span><br />
