The total number of Covid-19 patients in Maharashtra surged to 12,296 with 790 more persons testing positive. In Mumbai alone, 547 cases were reported taking its tally to 8359, the highest in metro cities in the country. Yesterday, around 36 patients died due to the disease out of which 27 were from Mumbai. The death toll due to the pandemic in the state now stands at 521. Meanwhile, 121 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals on Saturday, taking the number of such recovered patients to 2,000.<br />'' <br />'' The Indian Armed Forces displayed series of activities in Mumbai to express gratitude towards doctors, paramedics, sanitation staff and other front-line workers engaged in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. As much as 582 prisoners have been released from Arthur Road prison in Mumbai, 443 from Thane Central Jail, 498 from Taloja Central Jail in Navi Mumbai and 388 from Yerawada prison in Pune.<br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, in far away Osmanabad's Bhoom, around 60 women have joined hands to set up a garment cluster where they are making personal protective gears, face shields, face masks, aprons and other items for doctors. With this, the women have been able to get employment in these times of lockdown induced due to COVID-19 pandemic. For more than a month, these women are engaged in manufacturing these items which will be provided to doctors and health workers of JJ hospital, BEST workers and personnel of Mumbai police and also in various gram panchayats. <br />''
