As per the recently presented Economic Survey 2021-22, Maharashtra tops the list of newly recognised startups and unicorns. According to an official statement, Maharashtra alone recognised 11,308 of the fourteen thousand startups that began operations in the current financial year. Out of the 44 companies that achieved the unicorn status, 11 are based in the state.<br />''<br />''Praising the enterprising youth of the state, Maharashtra's Skill Development Minister Nawab Malik said, it has been proved that Maharshtra provides the most favorable ecosystem for startups to progress and prosper. He said that initiatives like Startup Week, Incubation Cells, Hackathon, help in obtaining intellectual property rights or patents are regularly carried out as part of the state's Startup Policy.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The minister further informed that Maharashtra also ranks second on the Niti Aayog's Innovation Index 2020.
