Maharashtra to take stern action against 405 officials for committing irregularities

The Maharashtra state government has decided to take stern action against 405 employees who had been indicted by an enquiry panel three years ago, for committing irregularities in implementation of the relief package for farmers in six suicide-hit districts of Vidhrabha region. State agriculture minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said that investigations are already in progress and the joint director of agriculture, Amaravati division had issued show cause notices to 405 employees in this regard who were found prima facie guilty. He was replying to the question raised in the Assembly by BJP MLA Harish Pimple and others on Monday. He said that out of 405 officers, 50 were already suspended and action would be taken against the rest within a month’s time. The report of the inquiry committee was submitted to the government and tabled in the legislature in 2008. AIR correspondent reports, show cause notices were issued to 405 officers and employees in November last.
