Maharashtra state prison department has announced a new policy, which will allow male and female under-trial prisoners and female prisoners to meet their children, grandchildren, and siblings outside of prison. Additional Director General of Police – prisons, Amitabh Gupta said that the policy has been formulated with the aim of ensuring that the prisoners are accepted by their families and given equal treatment. He also mentioned that the initiative is aimed at fostering greater family harmony and strengthening the bonds between prisoners and their relatives.<br />
