Maharashtra Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat has claimed that the reduction in stamp duty has given a boost to the realty sector. In a statement, Mr. Throat said, home registrations have gone up by 48 per cent in the time period of September to December 2020 while revenue collection has jumped by Rs 367 crore as compared to the same period last year. <br />''<br />''He further informed that while 12.5 lakh homes were registered in the four month period of September to December 2020, leading to a revenue of Rs 9,622 crore as compared to revenue generation of 9,254 crores in the preceding year.<br />'' <br />''The Minister said, the decision to cut stamp duty was necessary to revive the construction sector, which was feeling a slump post the Corona virus induced lockdown. He added that the bloom in the realty sector has led to a revival of the stagnant State economy as well. He added that the Centre has also lauded this decision made by the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government and has asked other states to follow suit.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Throat said, sale of flats has picked up not just in cities but in smaller towns as well, adding that the reduction in stamp duty has benefited both customers and developers.</span><br />
