Maharashtra reports first case of Omicron variant of Covid-19, patient had returned from South Africa

<span style="color: #222222;">Maharashtra today reported first case of Omicron variant of Covid-19, raising concerns of the health authorities in the state. The infected patient is a resident of Kalyan-Dombivili Municipal Corporation and had arrived from Cape Town in South Africa via Dubai and Delhi on 24th of November.  <br />'' <br />'' A press statement issued by the state health department today said that the patient has not taken even a single dose of Covid-19 preventive vaccine. It said, on 24th November, except for mild fever, the 33-year-old patient had not complained of any other symptoms of Covid-19 and is currently taking treatment at the Covid care centre in Kalyan-Dombivli in Thane district.<br />''<br />''It further said that the 12 high-risk contacts and 23 low-risk contacts have been found and they have tested Covid negative. Besides, a health check-up of 25 passengers who were on the same flight with the infected patient from Delhi to Mumbai has also been done and they too have tested negative for Covid-19. Search is on to trace other close contacts of the infected patient. </span>
