<span style="color: #222222;">Maharashtra reported 40,925 new Covid-19 cases. The highest number of 20,971 cases were reported from the capital city Mumbai. According to the state health department, 20 patients succumbed to the infection in a day across the state while 14,256 patients were discharged, the active cases in the state rose to 1,41,492. AIR Mumbai correspondent reports that additional Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Suresh Kakani said that although the number of Covid patients in Mumbai has been increasing at present, 90% of the patients are asymptomatic.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking to AIR correspondent, Kakani said that it is observed that only 5 to 10 percent of the patients daily need to be admitted to the hospital and 1 to 2 percent need to be admitted to the ICU. At present, the BMC has 35,000 beds in its hospitals while Covid care centers and private hospitals are ready to provide additional beds. Meanwhile, as many as 346 doctors in Maharashtra have tested positive for Covid-19. These include 98 doctors from Sion hospital, 70 from KEM, 64 from JJ, 45 from Nair and 7 from Cooper hospital. 15 members of the Mumbai Cricket Association's staff have also tested positive for Covid-19.&nbsp;</span>
