Maharashtra reported 2,361 new COVID-19 cases and 76 deaths till now, taking the overall case count to 70,013, and the number of fatalities to 2,362. The State Health Department said a total of 779 patients were discharged from various hospitals yesterday, taking the tally of the recovered cases to 30,108 so far. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 37,543 and 4,71,473 samples have been tested so far.<br />'' <br />'' Thane Municipal Commissioner Vijay Singhal said the civic body had made 8,000 beds available for COVID-19 patients and asked people for complete cooperation over the next fortnight to control the pandemic. He said that the corporation has 8,000 beds, 88 ambulances and 50 fever clinics in slums and congested areas.<br />'' <br />'' Meantime, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab announced Rs 50 lakh insurance cover for Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees engaged in the fight against the novel corona virus outbreak. Addressing labour unions on the occasion of the 72th anniversary of MSRTC, Parab, who is also chairman of the undertaking, said it ferried 5,37,593 migrants by running 44,106 buses between May 9-31 during the corona virus-induced lock down. <br />
