Maharashtra Polls: Shiv Sena-BJP alliance on verge of collapse

As the tug of war between both parties' leaders is at its peak, the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Maharashtra seems to be in serious trouble.

Shiv Sena senior leader Diwakar Rawate today said, his party has given a final proposal to BJP over seat sharing and now, it is up to them to decide over it.

Rawate also made it clear that if BJP accepts this proposal, the 25-year old alliance can be saved. Accusing BJP of being in hurry to end the longest alliance in the country, Rawate claimed that BJP leaders surprisingly walked out from the meeting held in Mumbai this afternoon.

Meanwhile, BJP's Maharashtra incharge Rajeev Pratap Rudy told reporters that a new proposal by Shiv Sena is being examined by his party leaders.

Similarly, BJP state President Devendra Phadanvis informed that the BJP- Shiv Sena alliance is still intact and party leaders are again holding meeting to discuss about the fresh proposal by Shiv Sena regarding seat sharing.

He clearly stated that the BJP wants grand alliance or Mahayuti to go ahead together for the October 15 assembly election. He however accused that Shiv Sena didn't do justice to smaller parties of the alliance.

He also informed that there is nothing new in Shiv Sena's latest proposals and it does not accommodate aspirations of BJP and other smaller allies.

Earlier in the day, BJP’s Maharashtra election in charge Om Mathur spoke to Uddhav Thackeray to end the deadlock over seat sharing.

After this telephonic discussion, leader of both the parties held discussions in the afternoon, but failed to arrive at any conclusion.

On the other hand, the bitterness between NCP- Congress alliance over seat sharing scaled another high as State Congress President Manikrao Thakarey today clearly stated that there will be no further discussion with NCP over seat sharing.

In another poll related development, Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena- MNS today released first list of its 153 candidates for the assembly elections. MNS has given tickets to most of the sitting MLA's of the party.
