Maharashtra polls: BJP gives fresh offer of 130 seats to Shiv Sena

The BJP has sent a fresh proposal to the Shiv Sena, offering to contest 130 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra assembly.

Initially the party had offered to contest 135 seats.

Party in-charge of Maharashtra, Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters in New Delhi that it is a very liberal proposal and he hopes that Shiv Sena will consider it.

Mr Rudy also said that his party has conveyed to it oldest ally Shiv Sena to offer it those seats on which Shiv Sena never won. State BJP president Devendra Fadnavis said that the party is awaiting response from Shiv Sena on its proposal.

Meanwhile, even as the growing tension between the major allies over the seat sharing issue continued, Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena yesterday announced in Mumbai a slogan for its vision document scheduled to be released on 25th of September.

The campaign tagline is “Ho, Hey Shakya Aahe” which means “Yes, it is possible”, similar to the US President Barack Obama's famous “Yes we can” slogan that he had used while campaigning for Presidential polls in 2008.
