In Maharashtra, more than 13,000 pregnant women were provided benefit to the tune of five crore rupees in Sindhudurgh district under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana scheme. District Health Officer Dr Mahesh Khalipe said, a total of five crore 76 lakh rupees has been provided to 13,706 pregnant mothers in Sindhudurg district under the Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana.<br />'' <br />''The Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana has been implemented since last three years to reduce maternal and child mortality due to lack of proper diet, medical treatment and care. Under this scheme, pregnant women were given a grant of 5,000 rupees in three installments. The dual purpose of the scheme is to provide rest to the mother and also to get the benefit of sunken wages.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Under this scheme, two thousand 676 beneficiaries from Kudal taluka in Sindhudurg district have got the benefit of one crore 14 lakh eight thousand rupees. The scheme has been implemented effectively even during the lockdown period and from April to September this year, 1,834 mothers have been given a benefit of 96.50 lakh rupees for first time pregnant and lactating mothers.</span><br />
