One of the interesting features of Manghar is that out of the 100 families in this village 80 are engaged in the business of beekeeping. Elucidating about the "Project Honeybee", Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai said that products and by-products made from honey can provide job opportunities to the rural economy.<br />''<br />''Besides, he said, beekeeping also boosts crop production. The Minister said, that the objective of the scheme is to produce high-quality honey, to raise the standard of collecting honey, to set up a hospital and laboratory for honeybees, and to give further momentum to organic honey. Under the "Village of Honey" initiative special efforts will be taken to increase the number of honeybees in the region. Further, it will also help tourists visiting Mahabaleshwar, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Maharashtra and the country to procure pure and standard quality honey. By protecting and conserving nature, the Village of Honey will also provide permanent employment to people living in forest and mountainous terrain. </span><br />
