The proceedings in both the houses of the Maharashtra Legislature were stalled by the Opposition over tabling of the Ram Pradhan Committee report on the second day of the Winter Session in Nagpur today. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Mr. Eknath Khadse and Shivsena Group Leader Mr. Subhash Desai sought the discussion on the report under the adjournment motion. While they were pleading the point in front of the Speaker Mr. Dilip Walse Patil, Legislative Affairs Minister Mr. Harshavardhan Patil informed the house that the Chairman of the Upper House was discussing on the same topic in his chamber with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and the Opposition Leaders.<br/><br/>The Assembly proceedings were also adjourned so as to allow the leaders of the Lower House to join the discussion. When the proceedings of house resumed after four adjournments, the adjournment motion was disallowed and it was informed that the decision of the Government would be intimated later. The agitated Opposition members started shouting slogans in support of their demand and the house was then adjourned for the day following the noisy scenes. Similarly, the Opposition Leaders Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Mr. Pandurang Fundkar and Mr. Diwakar Raote sought tabling of the Pradhan Committee report in the Legislative Council. The trouble erupted when the Chairman Mr. Shivajirao Deshmukh rejected the motion under Rule 289.Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Chavan assured the members that the veracity of the copy of the said report would be confirmed by the Home Minister and be known by Monday.
