The newly elected Maharashtra Government has made a provision of 600 crore rupees to improve power supply in the state. In one of the first decisions taken after assuming power in Mumbai today, the Government sanctioned the amount out of 8750 crore required for making the state load-shedding free till 2012. Currently, the demand for power in the state is around 15,000 MW while supply is only about 11,000 MW.In a bid to tackle increasing price rise, the newly formed Government made a provision of 88 crore rupees to maintain prices of essential commodities. The Government would sell tur dal at subsidised rate of 55 rupees per kg, sugar for 30 per kg and palm oil for 30 rupees per litre at the rationing shops in November and December. About two crore people would benefit from the decision.
