Meanwhile, state cabinet minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan, who has tested positive for coronavirus, was on Monday admitted in a hospital in Mumbai. The state government has started taking over non- public hospitals having at least 100 beds and 20 ICU beds in all wards of the BMC to covert them into COVID-19 care centres. The number of ambulance is also being increased from 100 now to 450. The state reported 2,436 new COVID-19 cases and 60 deaths, in last 24 hours taking the overall case count to 52,667 and the number of fatalities to 1,695.
