Maharashtra Govt takes extra security measures

Maharashtra government has taken extra security measures to tackle any adverse situation arising out of the Ram Janma Bhoomi- Babri Masjid verdict on Thursday. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has asked his ministers to monitor the situation in their respective areas. Security has been stepped up, and closed circuit television cameras have been set up outside the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. Adequate security has been mounted outside important places of worship in Mumbai and suburbs of the city. Besides sensitive pockets in Mumbai and other cities, police will remain on high alert in some sensitive cities and towns of the state like Aurangabad, Nashik, Malegaon, Bhiwandi. Maharashtra’s Chief Secretary, Mr. J P Dange has informed that about 2.5 lakh security personnel have been deployed across the state, including eight companies of CRPF, members of Rapid Action Force and the newly-formed Force-one along with 25,000 Home Guards. Meanwhile Maharashtra’s Home Minister, Mr. R R Patil has appealed for peace and calm. <br/>
