The Maharashtra government has ordered a CID inquiry into the murder of an alleged Indian Mujahideen, Mohammad Qateel Siddiqui. Maharashtra’s Home Minister R R Patil has also suspended superintendent of Pune’s Yerawada Central Jail, S V Khatavkar, where Siddiqui was found murdered in his prison cell today. He is suspected to have been strangled following a brawl with some yet to be identified fellow inmates. Siddiqui was in jail for allegedly making a failed attempt to carry out terror strike outside Pune’s revered Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapti Temple. He was also an accused in Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy stadium blast case of 2010. He was arrested in November last year by the Delhi Police.
