Maharashtra govt comes across faulty RT-PCR test kits, manufacturer supply halted

<span style="color: #222222;">The Maharashtra Government today said the state's Medical Education Department has come across faulty RT-PCR test kits which were being supplied by the manufacturer as the designated kits prescribed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).<br />''<br />''State Medical Education Minister Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh said, soon after the faulty test kits were found, the government halted their supply. <br />''<br />''He said, while conducting the tests in the laboratories of Medical Education Department it came to light that the test kits were not giving the desired results and therefore, these kits were re-checked and were found giving incorrect results. Mr Deshmukh said, since then, ICMR has been supplying new test kits to the State Government.<br />''<br />''The Minister said, a committee has been formed to look into the purchase of these faulty test kits and soon a report would be submitted to the government. He added action will be taken against the culprits.</span><br />
