Maharashtra government today cleared suspension of five police personnel for allegedly attending a Christmas-eve party thrown by a Chotta Rajan gang member in Mumbai last week. The decision to suspend the policemen came after a high-level meeting between Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil and Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in Mumbai today morning. The five policemen include Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishwas Salve, Assistant Commissioner of Police Prakash Wani, Senior Inspector RS Khakale, Crime Branch Inspector Praful Phadke and Constable T Salunkhe. Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandan had yesterday recommended the suspension of five of its policemen in the case. The Mumbai police in its report also submitted evidence in the form of photographs and statements of the people who attended the party. Key Chotta Rajan man Paulson Joseph had organized the party in Suburban Chembur last week. If the cops are found guilty their services will be terminated. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent Sweety Kothari reports from Mumbai that the Five Mumbai Police personnel, including an ACP and a DCP, were suspended today for allegedly attending a Christmas-eve party thrown by a mafia in Mumbai last week. Confirming the news, Air Correspondent Vishnu Sonawane said Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil cleared the suspension this morning after holding talks with Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. The home minister had yesterday ordered the inquiry after TV channels aired the photographs and grainy video footage allegedly showing the policemen dancing in mafia's party. Taking the matter seriously, Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandan had recommended the suspension of DCP V N Salve, an IPS officer, ACP Prakash Wani, and three other police personnel. However, the suspended ACP Prakash Wani remained defiant. The Mumbai police in its report also submitted evidence in the form of photographs and statements of the people who attended the party. If the cops are found guilty their services will be terminated.
