<span style="color: #222222;">Maharashtra Government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the kin of those who died in the Malad building collapse last night. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has further announced that the government will bear the cost of treatment of all those who have been injured. The announcement came soon after Mr. Thackeray visited Shatabdi Hospital to meet the injured. He was accompanied by Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Mumbai's mayor Kishori Pednekar and BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Eleven people had died while seven others were injured after a three-storey residential building collapsed last night at the New Collector Compound on Abdul Hamid Road in the Malwani area of Malad.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Leader of Opposition in the state council Pravin Darekar too visited the incident site and demanded action against those who had turned a blind eye when such an illegal structure was coming up. Calling for suspension of officers from the Collector's office as the structure was built on land that belonged to District Collector, Mr. Darekar said the local administration has terribly failed in its duty to conduct regular structural audits leading to this tragedy.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mumbai's Mayor Kishori Pednekar also visited the site and said a probe is on to assess whether the building was unsafe.
