Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranaranayan today rejected leave application of Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari. Earlier in the day, Tiwari whose name has figured in the Adarsh Housing society scam sent his leave application to Governor, amid demand by the opposition for his ouster. Raj Bhavan sources said that he had applied for a 3 month long leave. Tiwari, whose son got a flat in the controversial Adarsh Society, has refused to tender his resignation from the post so far but has applied for leave.Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai has said that the government should sack Tiwari, a former IAS officer, for his alleged involvement in the Adarsh scam. On January 3, another former bureaucrat Subhash Lalla, resigned as member of the State Human Rights Commission in the backdrop of his alleged link in the scam. Ashok Chavan was forced to quit as Chief Minister in November last year after it was revealed that his kin including late mother-in-law, owned flats in the upscale Adarsh society.
