Maharashtra Governor K. Shankaranarayanan has submitted resignation from his post.
He sent in his resignation to the President today.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai a short while ago, Mr. Shankaranarayanan said that he would be a free man from tomorrow.
Earlier, he was issued a transfer order to Mizoram late last night. His tenure was due to end in 2017.
Gujarat Governor O.P. Kohli will take over the additional charge of Maharashtra today.
