The Maharashtra government will soon form a committee to review the safety of journalists.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai yesterday, State Home Minister RR Patil said that the committee will comprise two representatives each from journalists' associations.
The decision comes after a 23 year old photo journalist was gangraped in a deserted mill compound in Central Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan visited the victim at Jaslok Hospital. He assured the girl's family that apart from bearing the expenses for treatment, government will extend all possible help so that she could lead a normal life.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh earlier told reporters that more than 20 teams, including 10 from the Crime Branch, have been pressed into service to track down the perpetrators.
