Maharashtra: Drone delivers COVID vaccines in Palghar district for first time

In Maharashtra, drone was used for the first time to supply vaccines in remote areas of Javhar Tehsil of Palghar district which is a backward tribal region. The innovative experiment by the health department of Maharashtra of using drone technology to supply the vaccines in remote areas proved to be successful and the consignment of the Covid-19 vaccines could reach the tribal hamlets and 300 beneficiaries were inoculated for their second dose.<br />” <br />” AIR correspondent reports, Tribal people in Javhar Tehsil of Palghar district always face lot of difficulties due to poor road connectivity in the dense forests and they always walk for miles through these forests to reach the medical facilities.<br />” <br />” This had become a major issue to supply the Covid-19 vaccines in these areas and to protect the tribal people from the threat of Coronavirus. But the health department of Maharashtra decided to use the technology to overcome the problem of supplying vaccines in large numbers so that the tribals in these areas should not wait longer for their second or first dose. With the help of the NGO’s the experiment was carried out yesterday to send the vaccine consignment with the help of drones.<br />” <br />” The drone took off from Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Javhar and reached the primary health centre of Zaap village within 9 minutes. Usually it takes more than an hour to reach the centre but drone made it possible and 300 beneficiaries were inoculated for their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.<br />” <br />” Due to this successful experiment the health department is planning to use it for other purposes like sending essential medicines, blood bags and vaccines for children in future.&nbsp;
