In a special interview to AIR News, Maharashtra's State Surveillance officer, Dr. Pradeep Awate today said that during the first and second wave of COVID-19 the infection rate among children was the same. He said, there is no scientific data available to prove that during the anticipated third wave the infection rate among children will increase. He has appealed that parents should not create panic about corona infection among children. <br />''<br />''In Maharashtra, during 1st and 2nd wave of corona 2.4 per cent children below the age of 10 years were infected due to coronavirus. However, the recovery rate of  this age group is around 99.8 percent. Maharashtra's State Surveillance officer Dr. Pradeep Awate said that a major reason for  this is the lack of receptor protein among children.<br />''<br />''Mr. Awate states that out of 10 thousand cases severe or the patient succumbing to the virus is only seven patients. The fatalities were reported in childrens diagnosed with Blood cancer, Hemophilia and Malnutrition. He said that, children are not vaccinated might be one of the reasons for the prediction of an increase of corona cases among them. The result of which, precautionary measures like covid task force, pediatric wards are being set up. He said parents should not panick due to this as  all  measures are being taken up for remaining better prepared to tackle any untoward incident. <br />
