Maharashtra CM says heckling ‘planned at high level’

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has alleged that heckling him at an event in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Maharashtra was pre-planned and he will not attend such functions in future till he gets an assurance that incidents like those will not recur. Speaking to media persons in Mumbai, he said he did not go to Nagpur to attend Prime Minister's function because of the planned manner in which speeches of chief ministers were disrupted at such functions. He said had it been a one-off incident, he would have understood but the same thing happened in case of Haryana and Jharkhand chief ministers.

Chavan was booed at a function at Solapur last week where he had to stop his speech midway amid repeated slogan shouting. He had refused to attend a function in Nagpur with Modi on Thursday where the Prime Minister launched several infrastructure projects including a metro rail project. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar also criticized the manner in which Chavan's speech was disrupted at Solapur allegedly by Modi supporters.
