The Chief Minister designate of Maharashtra Mr. Ashok Chavan and the AICC in charge of the state, Defense Minister Mr. A.K Antony today met the Congress President Mrs Sonia ahead of the swearing in of the CONGRESS -NCP government in the state on Saturday. The cabinet formation was discussed at the meeting. Later Mr Chavan told reporters that the list of ministers will come out only after the high command approves. As reported decks were cleared for the government formation in Maharashtra’s new government after almost a fortnight long deadlock between the congress and the NCP ended over portfolio allocation on Thursday.<br/><br/>NCP leader Praful Patel told reporters in Mumbai that portfolio-sharing will be done on the basis of the 1999 formula and denied reports that the ministries would be shared in 23-20 ratio with larger chunk going to Congress.<br/><br/>Highly placed Congress sources also said there would be another round of internal meeting today before a formal announcement of the details of power-sharing.<br/><br/>Congress and NCP rode back to power for the third time in a row defeating opposition Shiv Sena-BJP in a mainly four-cornered contest. The Government formation was delayed after declaration of assembly poll results on October 23 due to hard negotiations between Congress and NCP over portfolio-sharing. Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir had urged both the parties to show a sense of urgency to put in place a government.
