Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed authorities to take every measure to ensure there is no loss of life due to rain-related incidents. Chairing a meeting of the Thane disaster management team in the presence of the state's Chief Secretary Manukumar Srivastava and other senior officials, Mr. Shinde said teams must be present on the ground to take appropriate and timely decisions.<br />''<br />''Mr. Shinde directed authorities to inform citizens about the release of water from dams in advance so that they can take precautionary steps. He said citizens living near dams, around chronic flooding spots and in landslide-prone areas must be moved to safer places in case of heavy rain warnings, to avoid any casualty. The Chief Minister further asked authorities to ensure an uninterrupted power supply and strictly directed officials to fill all potholes at the earliest. He added that calls on helpline numbers must be attended and the complaints resolved on an urgent basis.<br />''<br />''Mr. Shinde also directed civic and emergency response teams to coordinate with railway authorities. Even as a few long-distance trains have been rescheduled on Mumbai's central route, the local train services are running with some delay.  Central Railway's Chief PRO, Shivaji Sutar has informed that even though heavy rains have inundated several tracks, train services have not stopped. He added that the deployment of additional pumps and micro tunneling has helped in keeping the services on. Mr. Sutar said information about delays and reschedulement, if any, is being shared on social media, which has helped in keeping the crowd in check.  <br />''Meanwhile, rains have taken a breather in Mumbai and its suburbs.
