Maharashtra Chief Post-Master General held for taking Rs 2 crore bribe

<br/>The Chief Post-Master General of Maharashtra and Goa was arrested by CBI in Mumbai for allegedly taking a bribe of 2 crore rupees. Manjit Singh Bali, a 1978 batch officer of the Indian Postal Services had demanded the bribe to issue a no objection certificate for the development and construction of a post office in Mumbai's neighbouring Thane district. The CBI has recovered a sum of 34 lakh rupees, USD 10,722; 3050 UK Pounds and 3470 Euro from Mr. Bali's South Mumbai residence; while searches on his Faridabad and Delhi houses are also being carried out. A father-son duo of Arun and Harsh Dalmiya, have also been arrested for acting as middlemen in this case. The CBI acted in this matter after receiving a complaint from Rita Shah, an ex-corporator of Mira-Bhayendar who had approached Mr. Bali, requesting him to expedite the issuance of NOC for the construction of a post office in the area.<br/>
