The council of ministers in the new government in Maharashtra is all set to take oath today. The announcement was made after a crucial meeting held in Mumbai on Wednesday to discuss on the seat sharing arrangement between the ruling combine of Congress and NCP in the Maharashtra cabinet. The meeting was attended by senior leaders of both the parties.The ruling combine have agreed on their 1999 formula. According to the 1999 formula the congress will have 23 ministerial berths while its ally NCP will have 20 ministerial berths.AIR Mumbai correspondent reports, the council of ministers in the new government in Maharashtra is all set to take oath in Mumbai today evening.After a meeting between the top leaders of Congress and NCP in Mumbai on Wednesday, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan clarified that there is no difference of opinion between the Congress and the NCP.Mr. Chavan met Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Wednesday for further approval on the list of Congress ministers to be inducted into his Cabinet. Senior NCP leader and Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel also gave a clear indication that old formula of 23:20 would stay between the ruling alliance in Maharashtra.He told reporters in Mumbai that in the last one year, Congress and NCP had run the government smoothly. Patel’s statement comes after the deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar demanded for additional portfolio for the NCP.
