Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has alleged that some people in Maharashtra were demanding bribes for giving permanent employment to the contractual assignees working under the National Health Mission. In a letter written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, he claimed that this corruption runs into over 300 crore rupees. Along with the letter to the CM, Mr Fadnavis, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, has sent three audio clips where the alleged conversations regarding bribes are recorded. He also demanded that the State Government should take strict action and spare no officer, if found involved.<br />'' <br />''Responding to the letter, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope clarified some facts and said that he had received information last month from the Gadchiroli district about some people taking bribes from the contractual staff of NHM to make them permanent. Mr Tope said, he immediately directed the District Superintendent of Police Shailesh Balakwade and Nagpur Division Deputy Director of Health Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal to investigate the matter and take action against the culprits. He said, a police investigation is underway. The Health Minister has also appealed to the assignees not to fall prey to such elements.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Mr Tope also said that a Group of Ministers was appointed by the previous government in the state to accommodate National Health Mission (NHM) contractual staff into the service.
