Maharashtra government has informed the Bombay High Court that suitable measures will be taken to ensure that no encroachment takes place at the premises of Indu Mill land.Additional government pleader G W Mattos told a division bench of Justices D K Deshmukh and Anoop Mohta that the government has issued directions to Mumbai’s Police Commissioner to provide strict security to the land.The court was hearing a petition filed by National Textile Corporation seeking police protection for the mill-land.Following the statement made by the government, the court disposed of NTC's petition.On 6th of December, RPI activists had encroached upon Indu Mill land demanding the entire 12 acre mill land for the construction of Dr. Ambedkar’s memorial.However, the encroachers had vacated the land voluntarily after negotiations with the state government and assurance by the Centre to handover the land.The court still wanted the state to ensure that such incident was not repeated again.
