Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Monday witnessed noisy scenes over the suspension of senior IPS officer Ashok Deshbrathar, who had conducted a sting operation on Hasan Ali Khan, accused of stashing huge amounts of black money in banks abroad. Deputy Speaker Vasant Purke rushed to the supplementary demands for urban development, revenue and forests amid noisy scenes and adjourned the House for the day. Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Monday said in the Legislative council that he would make a statement on the issue of appointment of former CVC P J Thomas in the state legislative assembly on Tuesday. The CM was under cloud for his role in the appointment of Mr. Thomas when he was Union Minister of State in the PMO. The members of the Opposition stalled proceedings of the house for two days on the issue. CM of Maharashtra today dismissed Quake threat to the Proposed Jaitapur Nuclear power plant in Maharashtra's Konkan region. CM said that while Jaitapur is in the third zone and hence there is no threat of an earthquake.Clearing doubts about the state's loan liability CM said that State is in a sound financial condition. He said that under the Congress rule the state has not taken overdraft facility in last three years. State agriculture minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said that investigations will be conducted on 405 government officers and workers in the financial scam at Vidarbha. He said that out of 405 officers 50 were already suspended. Speaker Dilip Valase Patil has directed to set up a separate system to look into the matters of Soil extraction. Maharashtra Health Minister Suresh Shetty said the government will launch an online drug stock monitoring system to check supply of expired medicines in the state.The Maharashtra government will conduct a special drive to clear the pending medical bills of primary/secondary teachers. Informing about the upcoming plans Minister of state for health Fauzia Khan to the Legislative council today said that the government within a month's period will take a decision on the reimbursement of medical bills of government school teachers. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said that Maharashtra will achieve self-sufficiency in power supply and will be free of load-shedding by December 2012.
